Sugar Cookies
Wonderful cookies for decorating and dressing up at any time of year.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 1/2 cups sifted white flour
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
Directions
- Cream 1 cup butter.
- Add 1 1/2 cups sugar gradually, beating until light and fluffy.
- Add 3 eggs, 1 egg at a time, beating after each is added.
- Stir in 1 tsp vanilla.
- Sift dry ingredients together:
- 3 1/2 cups white flour
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Add gradually to the creamed mixture.
- Chill thoroughly (4 hours, or overnight).
- On a well floured surface, roll dough out until it is 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
- Bake at 350F on ungreased baking sheets for 6 - 8 minutes.
- Allow to cool slightly before removing to racks.
